Thank You!

August 25th, the last day of camp, arrived too quickly.
Like summers of past this one flew by.
The full-time staff remains at camp, preparing for the upcoming seasons and continually looking towards next summer.  Camp is empty, but our hearts remain full. Inside each of us we wish to faithfully thank the 2015 Summer Staff for all they did, not only for us, but for your child and for the Kingdom of God.
 
Yet, how do we begin to say thank you?

How do we say thank you to 44 incredible individuals who served at Camp Luther this summer?
How do we thank our friends who became our family?
How do we thank them for enduring sleepless nights and exhausting days?
How do we thank them for their sacrifices?
How do we thank them for sharing their heart and love with those who crossed the bridge?  
How do we thank them for going above and beyond what was asked?
How do we thank them for being an example of hope?
How do we thank them for reminding us we are known and loved by God?
How do we thank them for caring for homesick campers and enduring the struggles of being a summer staff member?
How do we thank them for their forgiveness and grace?
How do we thank them for their constant encouragement?
How do we thank them for their patience, love, and understanding?

Please hear our love and gratefulness when we say thank you.

Thank you for your dedication to the Gospel and to the mission of camp.
Thank you for your sacrificial service.
Thank you for sharing the life, death, and resurrection with our world.
Thank you for your life changing love.
Thank you.

Continue to throw another log on.
Continue to seek Jesus.
We will forever remain a family.

Come home and see us soon.
We already miss you.

At the end of May, 45 college-aged servants of Christ arrived at Camp Luther for one unforgettable summer. For some, this was their fourth year as part of the Camp Luther Summer Staff, for others this was the first time they had stepped foot on camp soil. Over the next three months they impacted thousands of lives, became a family, and learned what it is to truly rest in the strength of Jesus Christ. Saying "thank you" isn't enough for all they've done, but we're going to try. Thank you for starting fires in the rain. Thank you for living by the motto "the water is always warm." 10 Signs Summer is Near

Summer is just around the corner, and here are 10 signs to prove it! 1.    The Waterfront is in!  Thank you to the hard working volunteers who helped! Quik, Java,  Skipper,  Snack-Shack, Djembe, and Paul braved the cold and rain, and we are so grateful.  Follow Camp Luther on Instagram 2.     Summer Staff have arrived!  Our Program Coordinators move in today and Counselors and Support Staff join us next Tuesday. Meyer, Surge, and Band-Aid are ready for summer! 3.  The cottages are open! During winter, some of our cottages are closed to save on energy costs. Workbee volunteers in April and May made sure they are open and ready to be lived in! 4.    The fish are biting. Our Men’s Fishing and Golf Retreat was last week, and all who attended had a great time. 5.  Canteen is full of snacks, ice cream, drinks, and new merchandise! 6.    Baby geese have been spotted having lunch at the picnic shelter. 7.    Construction projects are wrapping up. KNOWN our 2015 Theme

K N O W N. He knows me. Our theme comes from John 10:27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Like most themes, our theme is one in which we can talk about too much, but never enough. At Camp Luther we often sing the song 'I Just Wanna Be A Sheep'. Like our theme, it can be sung too much, but never enough. As the song goes, “I just wanna be a sheep, ba-ba-ba-ba / I just wanna be a sheep, ba-ba-ba-ba . . .”, but when we sing this do we really mean we want to be a sheep? I don't think so.  Let's be honest, if we were going to choose to be an animal we wouldn't choose a sheep. We'd want to be a lion or an otter or a house cat or a T-Rex, but not a sheep.  Definitely not a sheep. What we are really exclaiming when we sing 'I Just Wanna Be A Sheep' is that we want to follow the One who is our Shepherd, the One who knows us. Meet the 2017 Summer Staff!

This summer, our 45 member Summer Staff joins the legacy of 71 years of Camp Luther summer staffs! These young adults have come to camp to be caring, Christian role models in a number of different capacities. Some are sharing the love of Christ by serving as counselors, others as coordinators for programs such as IMPACT and Junior Counselors. Still others are serving as specialty staff in the maintenance and kitchen departments. Each person, each personality, each skill set has been specifically selected by God himself to be here at Camp Luther this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited! After two weeks of staff training, we can proudly say that we have one of the best trained groups of young adults to serve families, care for children, keep camp safe and maintained, and make sure everyone is fed! A summer may end, but the memories and blessings are ours forever.  Thank you 2014 Summer Staff for touching and shaping lives of campers, adults, families and your fellow staff members with the love of Jesus.   You have endured sunburn, sleepless nights, homesick campers, messy roommates, mental and physical exhaustion, 10 thousand questions, 10 million mosquito bites, and a schedule that only a college student could handle, all for the sake of the Gospel.  Thank you for giving yourself to the Lord's work and sharing your lives with us.  All summer you have shared our theme "Here We Grow".  As our summer comes to a close, you may now realize that it is you in fact that has grown the most.  Thank you for serving Jesus at Camp Luther and KBC.  You are forever family.  - The Year-round Staff "For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my pray
